My wife and I set out Sunday morning catching bait fish near the bouy by the steel jetties.  I had hooked a nice pin on a line and tossed it over.  About that time I saw them, the water looked brown just below the surface a school of rays were moving out the pass.  There must have been 2 dozen or more between us and the jetties.  About that time I guess I snagged one the line I had out.

What a rush, he ripped line off my baitrunner until I got him tighten down, I worked him for 10 minutes before getting him next to the boat.  He looked to be about 5' across, then he was gone.

Never though of getting the camera out, my wife was too busy telling me about women getting killed by flying rays and spears in my heart and anything else she could imagine.

But it was a great rush.  Made our other catches seem dull after that.

Funny, I caught a ray about 8 inches across and my wife was convinced he was going to spear me through the heart too!  May be there is some truth to this heart spearing talk............

Congrat's on the catch. Those things can put up a good fight for sure. I just hate having to deal with them once I get them boat side.

I think the crocodile hunter died from a ray spearing him in the heart. Your wives watch too much Animal Planet!
