| Sometimes when fishing my dock on Mulat Bayou a Gar will grab a Mirror Lure. Last night I was using a black Top Dog and working it slow. After catching a couple of skip jacks I saw a disturbance in the water. I figured it was a gar so I zinged the Top Dog at it. The lure landed about 6 feet to the left of the swirl so I twitched it a couple of times and waited. I could see another swirl and it looked like the ripples were moving toward the lure. I waited and the line tightened. It didn't fight at all but I could feel the heavy weight. As you guessed from the subject line it wasn't a gar but a small alligator. He was about 3' long. Alligators are common in the bayou but I never imagined one would take an artificial lure. When I got him to the dock he thrashed around and 'spit the hook'.

After we fished your dock Thursday night, we saw a small gator on the way back to the launch. May have been the same guy?

| Glas, I bet it was the same one. About a week ago something tore a big hole in my crab trap. I bet that little punk gator did that too. It was fun, but I'm glad I didn't have to unhook him. He was big enough to get the 'donation'.

| He was really close to your dock when we saw him Thursday night. The fish were hitting the top of the water like crazy out by your light, I bet that brought him over. I was having fun just watching them feed. The next time you see us out there, come down and say hello, if you feel like it. You can't miss my old tri-hull. Glastronix
