Today was a great day.  Of course the guys at Daybreak had us ready to go without delay.  Bryson and his son Cameron along with my son Grayson all headed out 16 miles looking for just a good time fishing.  We got to the spot, threw the buoy and waited to see the drift pattern.  I told the guys to go ahead and drop until I decided what we were going to do.  Bryson dropped and first on was a black snapper.  Nice black, I reached down to open the fish box and He had already thrown the black back.  Always remember blacks don't have to be 16 inches LOL.  Grayson and Cameron went down next and almost immediately they were on.  Double AJ's.  I just watched as the two boys worked those fish.  They were so stoked, they had no idea what was on the other end, but they "lost in the world of the fight".  Grayson and Cameron caught more fish and had a blast.  I am gonna tell about my Mahi, but I don't expect you to believe since I don't have the pics LOL.  I had a flat line with a live cig out the back of the boat and it was HIT.  I really expected a King by the fluorocarbon never cut,  I followed the fish and worked the rod, I had him about 25 feet from the boat, and I saw him ride through the swell, that beautiful blue/green and yellow then all of the sudden the hook was out and the dolphin was gone.  He was a minimum of 3 feet.  When I saw him, I already had dinner planned, OH WELL!  Bryson did end up catching the largest snapper 22inches.  I had a great time with my son and our friends.  It is always a pleasure to have The Bratcher Boys on the Graymack....NOW, Bryson, go out into the garage, open the door and start throwing rocks at the Bass Boat!  Here are a few pics.

P.S.  I Really watched the skies today, I informed everyone of what to do if we felt a cool burst, and we went over our new safety plan on the way out.

I will back him up on the Mahi. It was a great day but getting that dolphin in the boat would have taken it to a whole new level. We had a great time today except for  certain bonehead throwing back the first fish of the day. I don't know who let that clown on the boat anyway. Did James mention we caught some fish? Boys, my forearms cramped up to a point where I had trouble holding my cold beverage on the way back in. We absolutely smoked them. And let me tell you, it broke my heart throwing back 20 inch red snapper. The one I'm holding in the picture was 22 inches and was a blast to land on a light tackle setup. My oldest son, Cameron, had never been out like this and he had a blast. Watching him and Grayson get worked over by those AJ's was great. They had to sit down after landing those fish. I think James and I wore them out today. Wimps. James, Cambo & I really appreciate it and can't wait to go again. I'm sure I'll get to return the favor when deer season gets here.

Shame about the dolphin getting off. Nice report wih some neat pics. Just wondering if you chummed at all or was the current running too hard. Seems like there would have been more blacks around since you caught that one right off the bat. Good to see that storm didn't keep you off the water long. That is a sturdy boat you have under you.

We were not chumming, but it was an awkward day in regard to wind  and current.  When we first got to the spot there was a West wind with an East bound current.  the boat hardly had any drift.  Then as time progressed  we anchored, then wind shifted from a west wind to a south wind with the current in the opposite direction.  We did end up catching 8 black snapper.  I still don't understand how the dolphin was able to spit the hook. The only thing I can think is that  I was at the back of the boat and followed him around to the port side and after he went to the port side he had just started to head past me to the front of the boat and he was off...I am thinking I should have never let him get anything but parallel to the boat.  Oh well!

While the storm did not keep me off of the water, I was certainly cautious of my surroundings and listened to the weather radio.

Have a great fourth of july!

Man oh man, I won't call any names but some people seem to be a little bitter. You gotta play hard, Club Tubb! I seem to remeber you just coming off of vacation yourself. Look at the utter happiness on those childrens faces! What a heartless, unfeeling person you have become.
