What's your biggest pet peeve when anchored up fishing?   A boat busting in ?   A boat anchoring to close to you?  Divers under or close to your boat?

Another boat getting caught in your anchor rope or tangled in your bouy line?

Never argue with an idiot, they will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience!!

My biggest problem is when you first put your marker buoy out, and are trying to get anchored up some boats will get right over the top of your buoy. I think they should be more curious and let you get anchored up where you want before they impose their self on your spot. Some people act like you put your buoy out for them. I got to where when I go to a spot and there is more than two boats on it I will just move on to another. I hate when a spot gets crowded and people start getting their anchor ropes tangled up because they don't know what thy are doing. Any way I think that some of these people need lessons on how to anchor up and such and how to be curious to others when they are already on a spot. Maybe they should do like I did and take lessons from captain Mike.

We don't even want to go there with me................I have had my share of problems with people anchoring on top of me.  If I go to a spot and there is a boat there I find another spot and wish others would do the same, but unfortunately that seldom happens.  That is a huge gulf out there and many, many spots to fish.  Why would anyone want to try to anchor on your buoy marker unless they have no where else to go and if that is the case they are just stupid.  There are large numbers of public spots on the web that everyone has access to.  Just a sore spot with me....................Ed

Mine would be divers under the boat it has happened to me twice this year. I sure the first time the divers just got disoriented under water and lost sight of their anchor line. the second time the dive boat wasn't even anchored and when the diver came up he was probably 200 yards from the dive boat. that time was just unsafe and obnoxious. The second would be people at the ramp, need I say more.

My biggest peeve.....The marine patrol coming in on you when you are knee deep and catching reds,Asking stupid questions."Can you see,I am not keeping fish"..."Can you see I am wade fishing"...."Oh,I have to have a picture ID to prove I am a Fla. resident, even though I am breaking no laws..btw,who knows about this spot living out of town".....THOSE GUYS NEED TO CONCENTRATE on more serious things.Bored is not a reason to irritate someone.Off soapbox.

What really sets me off is to be at anchor, and some bozo somes ripping in with his bow trimmed high just seeing how much of a wake he can make.  To me that is just a lack of respect for those folks fishing.

Mine would be people who own larger boats assuming that people running small boats should get out of their way.Had on incident at the Mass where I was anchored up flyfishing for Spanish.32' Pursuit tries anchoring.Now...my flats boat is 15 feet, but with the current i was running 4 to 1 scope AND 6 feet of chain on the anchor. This yahoodrops his anchor...no chain on about a 2 to 1 scope...right on top of my anchor, then drags his anchor.I kept yelling because he is coing back right on top of my, finally hit my airhorn. He does the same thing 4 more times..then has the gall to tell me I need to move...because he is trying to anchor right there.

Had another one come up off my stern, running his engines, trying to catch hardtails off the wreck.I asked him nicely if he was going to do that to please cut his engines.I was informed that they were catching baits to go catch some big kings someplace where people fishing small boats couldn't go.I pulled a 57 pound king out of my fishbo and asked if they were bigger than that. They asked where I caught it.Told..."right underneath where you are right now..since you are sitting on my live cig"Guess I PO'd them, because two of the younger guys threatened to jump aboard my boat and give me a good asswhoopin.Calmly took the .45 out of my box and set it on the console and let them know illegal boarding of a boat is piracy, under federal laws.

Some of us fish smaller boats out of choice.Larger boats does not indicate fishing prowness ,better manners or superior seamanship.Only indicates a preference for larger boats.

Life is too short to skip fishing.

What really gets to me is to be anchored up and have the fish chummed up and have someone pull up and hold up on the spot with their motors running. The engine noise puts the snapper down and you have to go back to a slip sinker until they take off. I wouldn't mind if they anchored up 20 feet from me as long as they shut the engines down. There are plenty of fish around the public wrecks but you are only going to catch the big ones [unless the current is ripping] by by freelining a small piece of chum.
