I went out this weekend on a picture perfect Saturday.  Everything went wonderfully according to plan until I loaded up the boat and found a note on my windshield saying that all Pensacola City launches will start charging $5.00 a pop in January.  Has anyone else seen or heard of this, and if yes do you know when or if the City Council plans to vote on it?  Oh yeah we caught some fish too…

Endeavor to persevere.

Had a notice on the windshield Sat. at Sanders bch. If they think I'm paying $5.00 to launch at that crackhead hangout, they are mistaken. I'll gladly take my money to the shipyard, and have plenty of parking and a little more confidence all my stuff will be there when I get back!! I guarantee there wont be 6-7 cars without trailers there after they start charging either!!

And the long no wake zone is fine by me, give's us a chance to get the boat situated!!

Introduced to the city govt months ago, voted and approved.  I believe that the alternate to a daily fee is a $25/75 annual fee for city/non-city residents.

Ditto...or "I'm with stupid" or whatever I'm supposed to say.

We had an incident at Sanders where we were the first boats there at 5:15 in the morning and some crackhead was hanging out in his car in the parking spaces. I was a little leery of leaving my truck/trailer there. Luckily the cops pulled up right as we were launching and started checking the guy out. I made sure to thank them for patrolling the area. But they will have to make some major improvements, security wise and others, at Sanders for it to be worth $5 to me.

Damn.  I wish I had known that was going up for a vote.  I would have gone to the council meeting and made an ass of myself, at least more of an ass than usual.  I use Bayview and it seems pretty secure, but the ramps are full of pot holes, and I would expect that sort of thing to get fixed now if they are going to charge for us to use it.  Who is going to collect the money, and how will this $5.00 fee possibly cover their salary?

Endeavor to persevere.

The shoreline park boat launch in GB charges $10 a day or $25 a year I think. It kinda sucks. But, if you lock your car, everthing will be waiting for you when you get back.
