Bobby Q(Capt. Bob Quarles) wanted to sightfish for redfish this morning in Escambia and announced that just one fish would make his Sunday! Even with very high water, a neap tide, bluebird skies, high pressure, very windy conditions and dropping temperatures, I figured no problem, since we've been hammering them elsewhere so we went into our Redfish U. session with great confidence. The conditions really mixed things up and the fish were extremely difficult today and we had to bring the "A" game to entice 4 or 5 nice redfish. Eagle eyes and long, accurate casts with Gulp! Jerkshads in camo and Gulp! 3" Shrimp in new penny both rigged weedless was the key to success. We had some epic strikes while sightfishing these very uncooperative redfish. Poor to below average day but always fun to fish with Bobby Q and we both enjoyed the challenge.

Thanks for the report.....Glad you had some action, I stopped by Upper Escambia myself on my way home from the beach this morning; I couldn't resist, the water looked sweet in a couple of spots I fish.

I only fished for about an hour, had to get home for NFL football, but I was lucky and managed 3 slot reds, blind casting top water, the best was 25".

Sorry no pics, left my camera in the truck; I wasn't planning on fishing.

KEEP AN OCCASSIONAL RED HERE AND THERE FOR DINNER, BUT FOR
THE REST, PRACTICE HEALTHY CATCH & RELEASE TECHNIQUES
SAVE SOME FOR THE FUTURE!

Wow...what a day! Thank you Eric for the trip, it was so nice to be on the bow for once and sightfishing those reds in skinny water. I'll return the favor with a pompano trip in the spring..

What a cool experience, finding those fish in a brand new area for us, presenting the bait with accurate casts, and watching those fish react to the baits, pin the bait to the  bottom or slam the subsurface baits was incredible.  Eric's boat is a redfish catching machine....so is my new Quantum Cabo 30 with a 7' Cabo PTs rod..this combo is absolute perfection spooled with 15 lb. SW Ultracast, we broke it in right today.

Tired.... I am running on 4  hours of sleep after last night..... After Eric's trip, I picked up Ben and we jumped on Dan Green's big boat.  We went running around in Dan's boat (34 Venture) looking for bull reds.....settled for the boys catching trout two at a time in the bay...  and then a huge dinner of raw oysters, parmesan oysters, grilled and fried grouper at PegLegs... man.. Life is Good...I am so happy I get to fish with two of my best friends on the same day on two different equallly incredible boats and I was able to get my son out with me and fish with his best friend.. This was pretty much the perfect day... going to sleep with a big smile on my face!

I'll be back out there tomorrow for a full day charter....gotta love it....stay tuned for a fish report coming soon.
