Fished this morning with Ron Fairbanks on his Ranger bass boat. It skips along at 75mph so we got to the areas very, very, very quickly. With some warmer weather upon us, we concentrated on the very shallow flats near Soundside. Lots of mullet and saw an average amount of redfish. Got some nice fish on Gulp! Jerkshads in camo and 1/4oz Johnson Gold Spoons. Long distance spotting and long distance casts are the key. Those fish in there are a wreck and very uncooperative. All fish released.

Very nice.  It was a great day to be on the water.  To bad I was stuck at the little red schoolhouse and the chlorine gas chamber.  Great job on the fish.

Tight Lines,

Water looks very shallow and clear. We had another screwy tide Thursday and conditons are certainly not prime in that area. I'd say a couple of slots was a good catch!! Notice the color is bleeding out of them to the silvery tones!

Did you try any topwater for long casts and to cover more water? Any blowups?

KEEP AN OCCASSIONAL RED HERE AND THERE FOR DINNER, BUT FOR
THE REST, PRACTICE HEALTHY CATCH & RELEASE TECHNIQUES
SAVE SOME FOR THE FUTURE!

Haven't thrown topwater for redfish in several years, especially not in cold water. With the except of a couple fish in LA last month.

That bass boat rides like one of these:
