The biggest tanker holding 100 million $ worth oil/ fuel, this tanker is 3 x bigger than our big carrier. The pirates are getting the ransoms (1-25 mil depending on the size of the tankers), although the mother ship was sunk yesterday. Ships are re-routing way out ouf the way just to keep from getting JACKED.

Any one ever heard of the term CONVOY?       The Allies used it very successfully in World War II.  All that would be needed is for one or two of the many navy ships currently paroling the area to accompany a group of tankers through the area.     This would solve the problem.

It would work for sure, even putting one AC gun ship in the air would work and be cheaper.Death from above, you can run from a Spectre but you will only die tierd.

They are all in it together. It is all part of a plan to make gas prices go back up.

for the convoy

Problem for a fixed wing aircraft is situation assessment, on-sation time, and the need of a support base.  A ship is much better suited for this type of operation.  An attack helo flying off the escort ship would complement the escort's firepower and provide quick response to any area of the convoy.  The only threat to the helo would come from a shoulder fired surface-to-air missile such as the SA-7 Grail, which is available cheaply worldwide.  Currently, the U.S. and other countries have navy ships in the general area.  All it would take is a minimum of coordination and the firm resolve to meet all piracy attempts with the use of deadly force.  One or two frigates/destroyers would suffice.  The decision to exercise such force would be left to the on-scene commander.  My recommendation for the rules of engagement for the convoy - BLOW THE BASTARDS OUT OF THE WATER AND LET THE SHARKS GET THE SURVIVORS, IF THERE ARE ANY.  Of course, there would be an immediate outcry from the ACLU and other liberals, both home and abroad.
