| Hey guys. I usually spearfish but my bud who is not a diver will be fishing this weekend.. What are the grouper hitting? Will they still take an ole cig and cut bait or would deep jigging be best?

I picked up some AJ's and a Grouper around 14lbs on Saturday, all on Ruby Red lips that we caught off the Russian Freighter. I caught the Grouper south of the Navy ships.

Get'n Wade (2/7/2008) I picked up some AJ's and a Grouper around 14lbs on Saturday, all on Ruby Red lips that we caught off the Russian Freighter. I caught the Grouper south of the Navy ships. The ruby lips are very abundant right now! We went out for a few hours today & that's the majority of what we caught - d @ m n bait thieves.. :P We just can't seem to bottom fish as well as we did last year.. last year we got a fair share of AJs, Triggers, & Grouper.. but this year = nothing. :-(
