I'm thinking of going out to the I 10 and CSX and the other bridge rubbles tomorrow out to about 17 miles. We want Ajs. What would everyone recommend?

Went out to pete tide,at daylight and the fog was very thick but we caught a few short ajs and a little bit of everything. They wouldn't touch live pinfish or live cigar minnows but the 200g butterfly jig did the trick. Would it ruin the action if I put the hook at the bottom? It was getting slammed but they didn't always find the hook. The seas were 1 foot and quickly went to about 4 right when we anchored up. About 12 we ran to the 3 mile bridge to try to get some chum for the shark tournament, but the white trout weren't biting we saw that as a sign an ran home.

I don't think the butterfly jigs would work right with the hook at the back. They are heavier at the back of the lure so they need the hook at the front. The braid slammers and diamond jigs are weighted to use the back hook. I noticed that you were fishing with live cigar minnows. Did you catch them around the bouys? You are the second person to note that the cigar minnows are here. The blackwater rubble is close to the pete tide. There are some humongus snapper on it if you want to have some fun  with those cigar minnows.

Josh:   It cuts down conciderably when you put the hook on the bottom of the jig. Next time just speed up the jig and they will continue to slam it until they get hooked. Act like you are trying to take the jig away from him.

They were wimpy (3-4 inches) and we only caught 2 in 15 mins....it was around the #3 buoy. I was having trouble with the hook fouling around the leader or the hook turning upside down.......I need to refine my skills out at the chevron or avocet.
