Took my wife Erin out to chase a few sheepies down Saturday morning around 10am. We went to the Ft. Pickens Pier where there were about 10 boats and 4 people fishing on the pier. We manuevered our boat, anchored politely as we could away from everyone else and proceeded to catch a couple decent sized sheepies. After about 30 minutes, there were two boats that started exchanging words and then one of them called the Marine Patrol on the other....I think alcohol was involved!

Anyway, within 20 minutes there was a woman marine patrol officer on the bridge writing tickets.....so this leads me to my question, I see that it says you must be 200 ft from the bridge to fish, is that enforced and why is this a rule? I have plenty of other spots to catch fish so we left before the lady got our registration # and wrote us up.......

Was anyone on the forum out there on Saturday around noon? I have never had a problem over there but I guess there's always a first! We kept a couple of sheepies and my wife had a blast while enjoying a beautiful day on the water!

EE's with her first Sheepie!

This is the second Blowfish we've caught on little fiddler crabs......

WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?????????? IT ATE A CRAB!

Congrats on the sheepies.  And yes, technically you are supposed to stay clear of the Ft. Pickens pier.  Both old and new.  This topic has come up numerous times on the forum and discussed to no end.  Usually they do not come out to write tickets unless there is a situation though, like what happend when you were out there.

They weren't enforcing the 200' law last year, but they may start. If they do, that sucks. I talked to a charter boat Captain last night who said he has been stopped two out of his last three trips coming into the pass by the same one. He's was guessing they just don't have anything to do but harass tax payers.

I agree with what Dale Perkins had to say on the show last night. Our government needs to start focusing on combating things like drugs, not families out having a fun day on the water. My neighborhood isn't safe to walk around in, yet the only time I see a LEO is when I go fishing.

They have started enforcing the rules out there a little more in the last couple of years. We were run off by park rangers and marine patrol a couple times last year. I think the only time the park rangers care is when there is someone actually on the pier fishing. I heard that last year they actually started taking pictures of FL numbers on boats and mailing out ticketes...but I dont know how much truth there is to that.

What did you guys catch the sheepies on?

If the road was open and people had access to the pier, then I would want them to enforce the rule. But, enforcing it right now limits everyone from fishing that spot.
