Most dock fishers stay about 50' out and cast to the light. You guys pull up to the dock and cast out like you are on the dock. When you first pulled up and grabbed the dock I thought you were getting out. I've been hit by thieves at the dock twice--I thought they were back. After watching you for a few minutes I realized you were just fishing. Heck, I've probably had more than most as I'm just a simple boy from Mississippi.

But, if you're going to participate on a public forum then you owe it to yourself to get educated about the subject.

Go to WalMart, or Academy, or your favorite local tackle shop and buy either a folding ruler or a stick-on ruler for your boat. It's got all of the information on size regulations by species and includes other important information (like closed seasons). Very cheap insurance to make sure "the man" doesn't come knockin' on your door!

RE: Thursday night 6.05.08 Mulat Bayou

Don't feel bad...i didn't know they were closed in Febuary.

RE: Thursday night 6.05.08 Mulat Bayou

OOOPSSS...I thought it was 12 inches to 20 inches thanks for the correction.

RE: Thursday night 6.05.08 Mulat Bayou

Glas,

Specks need to be over 15 inches to legally keep , you never know who is watching.

Thursday night 6.05.08 Mulat Bayou

My Dad and I hit Mulat Bayou last night, and fished the dock lights. The tide was low and the wind was howling. We started throwing the bait net around 8 and found some LY and baby pin fish. Next we headed out into the bay, out by the interstate bridge. It was really rough, put it this way, my bilge pump got a work out. So after battling the 3 footers we went back into the bayou and fished the lights. The fish and bait were popping the top all over the place, and we saw some good sized gar in a few of the lights right up close to the docks. After about an hour we finally found a light that was producing. They were hitting but they were very picky. They wouldn't touch the live bait at all. I managed 5 keeper specks ranging from 12 inches to about 14 inches. The two largest fish I hung both got off right at the boat they were both around 19 inches. I lost quite a few last night :banghead :banghead. Dad got shut out. All the fish were caught on gulp 5 inch jerk shad (new penny), or gulp swimming mullet (smoke). We had about a dozen gulp with bit off tails :banghead They wouldn't touch the 3 inch new penny shrimp, or the power bait mullet (white or Green)??? We had to work for it, but we still had a great time. Here is a :takephoto of the ones that came home for dinner.
I also tossed back about 5 babies that were all around 10 or 11 inches. I think the bite would have been better if the tide hadn't of been so darn low, oh well it's still early the dock light fishing is only gonna get better. Good luck and good fishing.

Glastronix
