I usually don't bring her out when I have a crowded boat, since she only weighs about 3.5 lbs. Sometimes I worry that a big bull red might crush her when one gets to flopping on the deck...or swallow her whole. Those are some great pics of your dogs that you have been posting lately Todd. They look like they are having a blast.

Glastronix

RE: Bayou Texar and 3 Mile Bridge Sunday afternoon and evening

nice report with a great pic my friend:clap

RE: Bayou Texar and 3 Mile Bridge Sunday afternoon and evening

Glastronix,

nice upgrade with the camera! First we headed out into the bay and it was rough, rough, rough and windy. We anchored for about an hour getting bounced around and only 1 bite. So we decide to head up into the bayou and goof off. I idled around occasionally killing the engine, and casting around the grass flats and random docks. I got a few strikes but didn't really hang anything. Next we decided to stop at the little beach next to the train tracks and let the dog play for a minute. After Ashley and I had a drink, and Peaches finished exploring we headed back out to the bay. Here is a :takephoto of peaches chilling on the boat

The wind had almost quit blowing, and the bay had calmed down a good bit. So we anchored up again and I landed a nice white trout. As the sun began to go down the skipjack moved in all around us. We could see shrimp jumping across the top of the water, and then bam an explosion as the skippies got fed. It was pretty fun to watch, and we started catching them almost immediately. It was kinda slow other than the skipjacks, and then I heard some splashing just outside of the lights. I assumed it was more of the same, but I made a cast in that general direction anyway. Then BAM....drag screaming, rod bowed up...oh yeah...SWEET...a red. I fought him for 4 or 5 minutes, and I was surprised when Ashley netted a 24 incher. He fought like a big boy, but he turned out to be the smallest red I have ever caught at 3 mile. He was lots of fun and also a keeper (an added bonus!!!)

Check it out, we got a new camera. Now you can actually see the fish in the :takephoto we take at night :clap. I hung 2 more within an hour of that one. The first one hit right after I had just gotten hung on some debris on the bottom and tightened my drag to break free. He hit and bowed up my rod the drag made a tiny sound and then no fish. He didn't break me off, so I think he either ripped his lips or spit the hook. The next one was a big boy, I think. The drag ran like crazy for a couple of seconds, and my rod tip was in the water. Then I felt structure and a few moments later nothing, he broke me off. That was it for the reds that night. We both caught a few more skippies, and Ash landed a 26 incher. It was about 11:30, so we called it a night. We had a peaceful afternoon on the bayou, and an exciting night on the bay. it was a blast.

Good luck and good fishing.

Glastronix
