He is down from Kansas for the summer and and wanted to get in on some Florida fishing action. We bought 2 dozen shrimp and put in at Jims and headed for the general area of the X. He had a new baitcasting reel he wanted to try. We each hooked up two apiece speckled trout which were in the ten inch but no keepers. After an hour or so we pulled anchor and headed south of highway 90 and worked the edges of the grass a bit until dark. This yielded two more small specks which were quickly released. I was hoping for some signs of a redfish but no luck. I tried a chartruse grub with a red head bumped along the bottom in about 2 foot of water for a flounder but no luck there either. Nice evening for fishing though and a nice break from the thunderstorms.
