Trout tournament series?

When I was working in Texas they have a couple of trout series's. The Speck-tacular series and the Trout master's Elite series.

How hard would it be to set something like this up in our area..........Would there be any interest?

On November 1st, 2008 the MBKFA will be hosting the 2nd Annual 5 Rivers Kayak Fishing Tournament at The 5 Rivers Delta Resouce Center. It’s that time of year. The flounder are making one of two annual runs, Redfish, Specks and Bass are feeding for the winter. This is an exciting time for the Mobile Bay angler. Adding to that excitement is the 2nd Annual 5 Rivers Fall Kayak Fishing Tournament.

With the great success of last years Fall tournament, this years 5 Rivers event will be bigger and better. More exhibits, performances by the Robbing Peter band, great food and more prizes.

Kayak anglers from around the Gulf will be arriving in Mobile to compete. With over 500 members of the public attending last year, many more are expected to view the sport of kayak angling and learn more about the sport we’re all addicted too.

So if you’ve got what it takes to compete against some of the best Gulf Coast Kayak anglers, then we will see you at 5 Rivers.

Final Redfish Tournament Of The Year

The Emerald Coast Redfish Club is hosting its last tournament of the year October 18th at St. Andrews Bay, Panama City. The tournament site will be at Carl Gray Park, link for directions and map: http://www.theredfishclub.com/Page2.html . The club's tournaments mirror IFA events in regulations and format, 2 man teams, artificials only, and fish must be kept alive. This tournament is open to any non-club team that would like to participate. If you're an IFA team fishing in the championship in November, then this would be the perfect opportunity to prefish, hear what else is going on in different areas, and have a chance to win some extra cash. The entree fee is cheap, just $25.00 a team. There is also an optional calcutta side bet that is $50.00 per team if wishing to put a little more on the line. After weigh in, there will be some festivities and is sure to be a great time. Come see what your local redfish club is all about and join us!!!!

Connor's Jigs/PFF Inshore Picture/Forum Tournament Ideas

My son Connor has some money set aside that was meant to be spent on a tournament of some sort and hasn't spent it yet. I suggested to him to spend it here, on the Forum. He needs to spend it this year.

I suggested having a PFF/Picture(with measure tape) tournament and have 4 catagories such as Pompano, Flounder, Redfish and Largest Fish caught on one of his jigs. No entry fee, just catch a fish on one of his jigs and take a picture (with a ruler) and post it on a thread that is designated to the species you caught. At the end of the tournament, each winner would be awarded the winning award which would most likely cash.

Elizabeth Bottrof Memorial Redfish Tournament

The Elizabeth Bottorf Memorial Redfish Tournament will be held in Southport, Florida on September 20th-all proceeds to benefit the American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program and the Elizabeth Bottrof Playground. Elizabeth Bottrof was a 3 year old girl that tragically drowned, her dad is putting the charity tournament together-participation and donations will be greatly appreciated.

Olive Bass Club of Olive Baptist Church will be hosting its third benefit bass tournament for The Florida Baptist Children’s Home located at 1000 Chemstrand Road, Pensacola, FL. We ask you to support this sporting event to be held September 13, 2008 that will benefit the children’s home.

The Pre-Fish Meeting at Olive Baptist Church, is on Friday, September 12^th, beginning at 6:00 PM to include…special guest Randy Howell a 15 year professional angler and 7-time Bassmaster Qualifier, door prizes, and drawings.

We hope to raise financial support through donations to fund the prize money for the tournament as well as items to be used for door prizes. This is not a fund-raiser for the church; 100% of the money will be spent on the tournament expenses including prize money. All remaining funds will be donated to the children’s home. A financial statement will be available for sponsors 60 days after the tournament.

Please let me know if you are interested in becoming a sponsor for this event through either your financial donation or items to be used as door prizes for the pre-tournament dinner.

I have been messing around with a design for a Bait Pen design and Pinfish Trap all in one. I need some input on what a tournament angler would want in a pen to include size, shape, bait capacity, wire size etc. Here is a picture of the first design. The trap/pen is 24" wide, 24" long and 23" high. Its massive, maybe too big? Unlike my normal traps, this one has a dead bait container through the middle with dimensions of 23" high, and 3.5" on each of the 4 sides. Here is a pic:

This year, they are raising funds to support the Ronald McDonald House of Northwest Florida. Cleve Posey, Rodeo Chairman,
says “for 2 anglers, $100 per boat is a small price to pay to support such a big cause! Anglers will be helping out Parents by
providing rooms near their child who is receiving life-saving care from a local hospital. Additional anglers can support the cause by paying
$30 each to join their boating partners.” Bank fishing is also encouraged at $30 an entry. This donation will register participants in the
Tournament and includes a day of fishing fun, a Captain’s / Angler’s meeting serving Hot Dogs and Hamburgers Aug 8th at the Grand Lagoon Yacht Club , and is a tax
deductible contribution. Late registration will remain open through the Captain’s / Angler’s meeting. Rules will be discussed at the Captain's meeting.
Over $2500 in cash and prizes will be awarded. Children 12 and under fish for free.

2008 Gulf Coast Grand Slam

After a successful inaugural tournament in 2007, we at the Reef Fish Restoration Association are excited to bring the event back with a few changes that we expect will make it more exciting and interesting for all involved.

The big change for this year is our date.

We timed the 2007 event to coincide with the closing of the traditional fishing season and the end of red snapper season. This year, with so much turmoil surrounding the snapper, we moved it.

Mr. Tommy Holmes of Outcast Fishing & Hunting offered us a slot alongside the Miller Lite Mega Shark Tournament -- august 8-10 -- and we agreed that we could not lose.

Now we can put our signature event in front of a crowd of tens of thousands and showcase our sponsors and sport in a brighter light.

With the addition of our Inshore Grand Slam division, we are adding a category that drew a lot of interest during last year’s tournament and believe it will only bolster our numbers in terms of participation. This is in addition to the categories for red snapper, grouper, triggerfish, amberjack and king mackerel as well as the Offshore Grand Slam — an aggregate of all five species — that served as the groundwork for this event.

Our Captain's meeting will be August 7 at 6 p.m. -- registration will open at 5 p.m. (or just sign up now) at the RFRA Building at 1007 Pine Street across from Joey Patti's Seafood Deli.

Here's the details:

Offshore -- entry fee for species competition is $50 per person.

This gets you in the money for the species but not the Slam. That's basically a $200 per boat jackpot.

Inshore -- $150. That's it, not too confusing.

The Capt. meeting is at the WCI mariner off of Gulf Beach Hwy. August 1st.

This is a great tourn.for the kids and it is just not big game it also includes Red Snapper,Amberjack,King Mackeral, Bonito,Tuna,Wahoo,Dolphin and naturally tag & release White Marlin,Blue Marlin and Sailfish .

With Snapper season coming to a close it would be a great time taking out some of the Kids out for the day.

I fished it last year with my grand daughter and she caught her first White Marlin and she is still talking about it.

Entry Fee $ 75.00 per angler

Th Outcast Blue Marlin Classic is coming up July 23-27. The captain,s meeting will be Wednesday July 23rd at 6:30. The boats may leave at 5:00pm on Thursday the 24th. The fishing will begin at 5:00pm on the 24th and will continue through Saturday the 26th and you must be in line to wegh-in by 9:00pm on the 26th. The scales will be open from 4pm-9pm on both Friday and Saturday the 25th and 26th. The awards banquet will be held at 10:00am on the 27th. All the banquets and the weigh in will all be held at Zeke's Marina in Orange Beach. We will also be offering the MILLION DOLLARS for breaking the AQlabama state record for Blue Marlin of 779.5 lbs. I fish this tournament every year in Alabama. It's not as big as the grinnell tournament that was put on a few years ago, but it's getting bigger every year. There were about 75 boats last year. You can call either of the guys at the bottom or let me know if you have any questions. You can register the day of the tournament. I have the entry form that can be mailed in, but not sure how to attach.
