What do you think about this item? It cost $45 and comes with storm whistle signal mirror aqnd chemical light stick. Is there something better. What about a signal device/horn. Is the dive alert any good?? Just picking up a few more things before next weekend.

i have one and i don't rightfully know how to get it off air to nitrox. i bought it used and did not have a manual. i have not dove nitrox in years but the guys i dive with now sometimes do. does anyone know how to change it. it is a single button computer.

Suggestions Needed for Tricking Out a Riffe

Just bought my third gun, a Riffe Competitor 2XS.

Any suggestions on modifications or changes to trick it out ? ( Speed load setup, shaft / tip change ect.)

It came with a screw on Riffe spear tip that doesn't have a flopper retainer ring so you have to turn the spear around and run it back through the fish rather than just engaging the flopper retainer and pulling the shaft back though. I like the speartip, but without the flopper retainer ring it makes it more difficult to remove the spear from the fish, a potential problem with a larger "non-stoned" fish.

What spear tip set ups are you using or would recommend ?

Also I figured out when reloading after you run the line under the tab and over the shaft you can double up the line and wrap one time for a semi speedload (similar to a Spearfishing Specialties Sea Hornet / AB Biller setup but without the little bungie). Any other ideas on faster/improved loading ?

We need a few more things before we venture out on our own. Looking for advice one a direction to look in for several item we need.

Safety items: Diver Alert signal, Safety sausage, Knives, Scissors and an O2 system for the boat.

Other items: Gloves for women and men, Scuba flashlights

And my most important: spear pole and speargun, and anything we might need to harvest lobsters when the season comes in.

The ReelDuel should be ready for the Gulf soon. Finishing my 10 year maintenance. New control cables, scuppers, bow roller and routine things like regrease the wheel bearings test everything. Did a run on the river a couple weeks ago after impeller change and the motor is working fine.

I was wondering what everyone thinks about owning your own tanks. Do you own steel or Aluminum? It seems to me that renting tanks can be the way to go. A couple bucks more than the fill cost. I am sure if you are mixing gas you want your own, But for me the newb renting seems to be the way to go.

And on another note. Remember I'm a newb to this and read as much as I can. What level of PADI certification is needed to get 21% EAN tanks?? I thought normal air we breath is 21% Oxygen 1% Misc and the rest Nitrogen. Is this because 21% EAN is certified amounts?? I think I answered my own question. But in OWS this was not talked about.

This is almost as bad as owning a boat. It is always something you need to buy. Bad part is I really like that the Wife enjoys it. Just buying everything for 2 has hurt the girl friend money. I sure do miss her!!!!!!:angel:banghead:angel:shedevil

Ok I have another question. I know alot of things factor (Tank, Wetsuit, body fat, etc) how much weight you will need but where is a good starting point. When we certified I had 16# and Donna had 11#. Everything but 1 Safe second regulator came in the mail today, so we don't have a show stopper for the weekend. (Only Weather) Unless I need more weight and can't find any.

Hey yall,

I went diving this weekend and had some problems with my gear. It was borrowed equipment and it was suggested I look into buying my own.

I know I will need to try on a mask and fins and I can handle that, but I need some help with the regulator, bc and tanks (if any).

Any suggestions? I need to stay on a college students budget, however I am getting a few dollars back from this economic stimulus rebate.

Any help would be appreciated!

Dacor regulators

I have two dacor regulator set ups that i have had for 10 years. The first stages look great but the second stages have some use on them. I was going to give them to some buddies that don't have any equipment. I was told that these can't be serviced anymore because dacor was bought out. Can anyone advise me on this and let me know if at least the first stages can be serviced. The first stages have these numbers on them ( 360 and 960 ). Thanks Ken.

We just got back from Belize and are now certified. Belize is a winderful place to dive. We had a wonderful time. Our dive instructor was very proffessional and knew how to get the point of safety across so you took it serious. Our class only had 3 total people so it was just like getting private classes. Best of all was the dive sites we had to use for training.

I am looking to sell a men's large Bare Nex-Gen dry suit, gloves, Trek boots, T-100 Polarwear thermal, dry hood, and Ocean Reef Neptune II full face mask with transport backpack. This is everything you need for cold water diving. It was bought brand new for a little over $1,500 and was used less than 10 times, but I am selling all of it for $800 OBO. I still have all the paperwork that the stuff came with, too! There is nothing wrong with the gear, my dad just decided that he didn't enjoy cold water diving and wants me to sell it for him. Old Gear, New Questions

Hey guys I have recently came across some used dive gear. Its been in someones shed for a while and needs cleaning. I have a Oceanic reg with a air Datamax sport comp, pressure guage, and compass combo. An Alpha octo and Delta. Seaquest BC Large with weights and knife etc. Im guessing first thing is to take it to the shop and have them do a complete service. How much will that cost? My comp needs a new batt. Cost? Can you fix a pressure gauge, looks like it has broken a seal or something H2o inside? Cost? Id like to get a ballpark at what Im looking at. Can it be salvaged?

I'm in the market for a new cold water wetsuit, gloves, and booties as my custom made Fathom farmer john wetsuit of 17 years has mysteriously shrunk to the point that I can't get into it.:banghead

What is your favorite winter wetsuit setup and mil thickness for the Destin-Pensacola area ? (example: one piece jumpsuit, 2 piece farmer john, one piece jumpsuit with hood, vest with hood under lighter one piece summer suit, ect.) List manufacturer/model/mil thickness.

Also what's your favorite winter glove and bootie. (manufacturer, model and thickness.)

Has anyone tried the Pinnacle Merino lined wetsuits ? If so what's you opinion.

Always enjoy reading PFF. With the experience on here there is no doubt you guys can come up with a good trolling motor selection and also looking for GPS and fish finder recommendations. On electronics I don't want a combo unit. Split screens seem to hard to read. Any 1st hand recommendations and where to find the best place to purchase and installed. I have a 2007 19ft tidewater Bay Boat.

Who sells Pinnacle wetsuits??

Just got a new wet suit for Christmas. I got a Pinnacle escape, john and jacket!! I origionally looked at the Akona john/jacket, but they didn't have any in my size when my mom got it for me, so she went with the Pinnacle...i think i might like it more than the akona anyway.

Who around the Pcola area sells Pinnacle?

I would like to go try on one size smaller before I decide to keep the one i have or not. I don't know though. It isn't a loose fit, but not squeezing tight...I'm not used to a fit as comfortable as this one, but one size smaller might fit PERFECT. One sweet thing I like about it is that the shoulder straps are one piece that you lift up over your head and put you head through a hole and the whole shoulder area attaches on your chest. It isn't 2 1/2" straps on each side you have to velcro together seperatly...anyone have a suit like that they they like/or don't like because of that, if not, why don't you like it??

Ok, I have been certified since March and due to things getting in the way etc... etc... I have not yet got most of my equipment. But I think I am ready to get what I need.

My question is: For someone that will not dive too terribly often, how would the Zeagle Escape BC fit my needs for a rec diver that dives maybe once a month or less. I have the chance to get one with 20 dives on it for a pretty good price based on what I can research.
