It is a well protected basin that many boaters have used before in hurricanes and is accessed by a channel off of the Escambia River. We try to offer some kind of ferry service to those that want to anchor in the "lake" and don't have their own dingy. You can call Billy Brooks at 850-435-5557 for more info.

Tropical Season

The following is from this AM's Tropical Comments from Crown Weather. I have found this to be a useful site. www.crownweather.com

Item number two of interest is an area of disturbed weather in the southern Gulf of Mexico just north and northwest of the Yucatan Peninsula. This disturbed weather is in association with the interaction of a tropical wave and a upper-level low pressure system. This disturbed area of weather is expected to be drawn northward into the northern Gulf of Mexico and then inland over the next 36 hours ahead of a trough of low pressure tracking into the eastern United States. Development is not expected from this system, however, it will be watched closely as environmental conditions are favorable for development over the northern Gulf of Mexico.

Getting Close.................

June 1..... the dreaded start of H-------- season. I hope that I haven't wasted anyone’s time by posting this, but I do want to wish all who travel here a safe, productive and happy spring and summer season this year. Be it whether you’re on the water, local, far away or stuck behind a desk like me dreaming of all of the upcoming fishing adventures. This place is the greatest, Thanks Chris..... The disturbance is not highly organized with the majority of thunderstorms remaining north of the low pressure's center of circulation.

Environmental conditions remain slightly favorable for further organization but it is possible that a tropical or subtropical storm may form within the next 24 hours.

Even if the disturbance does not organize further, it will still bring gusty winds and squalls of tropical downpours to the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and Hispaniola.

Almost Home Free

Only a few hours left in the official hurricane season, and no big blows.
