Started out the day with high hopes to catch a blue. We headed out of Sherman Cove around 05:30 to run to the south about 50 miles. Lite chop on the water with swells around 1-2. Hall and myself settle in the bean bags for a 2 hour ride. Tim and Rob at the helm for the trip out. About 25 miles out Tim pulled back on the throttles and sugested that maybe we needed to catch out snapper before we went any further. As I looked out to the south I could see the line of thrunder strom forming from the east to west. The radar confirmed that it was not a wise thing to try and run through them. We quickly put our limit of snapper in the bag and decided to try and make it to at least the 131. 3 miles pass the 131 we toke a right turn to 270 deg to parallel the squawl. We started to put out a 5 line speard of combo s. Two minutes later this cow hits a green and yellow with a horse hoo. Rob had her to the boat in no time and Tim gaff and bag her in a few seconds. The water conditions was temp 81.3, Green with a light tint of blue few flying fish in the area no grass 1/2 knot current from the south. We thought this is it two minutes and a good dolphin in the bag just how many can we catch today. Well the strom quikly formed and sent all the boats to head for calmer waters. We headed North with hopes that the strom would pass soon,  just as I turned north a water spout formed about two miles away from us. We waited to the north and within 2 hours all was calm again, so it was off to the south in hopes to find the old girl in the blue dress for a dance. The chatter on the radio was grim it seem to us that no one was really catching much of anything. At about 44 miles out we ran across a line of ocean shad that was being devoured by some thing below. The sounder showed large fish  below the school so we thought just maybe we would set up a troll in the area. Every time we pass the school something would hit the down rigger that was set at 90 ft with a live blue runner but no hook ups. As we pass the school we picked up dead shad with bill marks on them some of them still swimming in a circle on top. But we just could not get a hook up. Did anyone see these huge schools of shad out there earlier that morning and just curious if anyone got something off of these bait schools ? Water conditions 82.4, Lite blue current 1/4 knot from south no grass no flying fish. We did run a cross a 4 by 10 that was 12 feet long floating vertical  with not one type of fish on it( nothing).Thats about it NO dance this time but we will be out there next week to see if she shows up. That was an outstanding report. Did you try fishing with the shad or were they in too bad of a shape to put down?

Tim did hook a shad to a 650 penn and tried to slow troll it at 1.6knots on the top with no takers. At that time we did get another strike on the downrigger deep with fish marking on the recorder at 150 ft.
