I wanted to target AMBERJACK Saturday morning with my sonand some of his frineds...but I don't want to run out 45 miles to the place I usually go. Are there any decent places in that 25 mile or less range that might pay off dropping live baits? I don't want your numbers, just an idea of the area???

Thanks for ANY help

AJ's like vertical structure. Anything that is 10' tall or more has AJ potential. Shallow water wrecks will hold AJ but they tend to be smaller.

Try the I10 bridge rubble to the SE. Usually holds AJ's, but you'll have to pick through the shorts. The Chevron is also a good spot to try.

The advice given so far is excellent. The only thing I would add is to freeline a large ruby or white snapper over whatever spot you pick. All of the wrecks like the penhal, ydt's etc. are covered up with these baits. Just sabiki some up and put them on a large circle hook with no sinker and they will try to make it back to the wreck. The keeper AJ's will jump on them.
