Did some deep bottom fishing today. Caught some live pinfish and menhaden and headed south. Got a few nice grouper(15-25#) and some decent scamp and huge mingos. Also caught a few big snapper which were properly released after I cleaned a few leaders and hooks out of their mouths. Pretty slow overall and worked for what we got. What a beautiful day out there!! Here's some photos.

Looks like you did good, nice grouper . I also had a fantastic day out on the blue pond. It was hot for a while. Caught 5 33" to 35" aj's and 4 almacos and a beeliner and lost a 45+ cobia right at the boat because I wasn't ready with the gaff. Stayed bowed up all day with jigs, all 5 of us.

Lobsterman......kind and color of grubs?  Hubster and I left Sander's beach about 530 am.....went to many numbers offshore and ended up about 10-12 miles south of the pass.  We tried trolling, bottom fishing, sardines, jigs and various other things.  We had like 3 bites all day long!!  I know we've got a new boat but, jeezzzz....this isn't our 1st time out!!  :(:(:(    The depth finder was showing fish but I SWEAR they had no mouths!!! LMAO!!

Any advice or help is greatly appreciated!!

beatiful fish!

“Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body. But rather to skid in sideways, beer in hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming “WOO-HOO what a ride!”

Just wondering about the menhaden. Did you fish them live on the bottom or just butterflied? I don't usually try to keep them in the well so I have never dropped a live one to the bottom. Those are some quality gags. If you can put people on fish like that I would forget trolling charters except for dragging high speed lures between bottom spots.
