Curious to know if anyone has seen a difference with switching over to the HPS's when the water is clear and when its murky. I have underwater 12v lights right now and am buying my Halogens to re-rig our boat. Most of the time our water is murky in our bay and was curious if you guys using the HPS's now could say if they are better all around or worse when its murky. Plus, whats the difference in the glare on the water? Thanks!

I would have to say that they are better all the way around. They provide the best penetration in murky water while having little to no glare in clear water or ripply water. I upgraded from halos to hps at the beginning of this fishing season and I have no complaints. Now don't get me wrong I fished with halos for several years and boated countless fish with them. They are definately an improvement over a DC system. It really just depends on your budget and the time that you have available to put into the project. As many others on here can probably tell you that the possibilites are endless for different brands of lights and the ways to mount them.

I appreciate the advice. I am working on a tight budget right now but its coming along. I went with a buddy a while back and loved the way Halogens lit up the water. Plus, we didn't have to worry about hitting anything with the lights. Just plug'em in and go. I did notice the Halogens out off some heat and attract insects, but we were out for 9 hours and only stuck one flattie. It sure wasn't the Halogens, they put off great light in my opinion. Maybe one day I'll catch up to the HPS's, but I'm looking forward to the Halogens.
