Just a hair over 150 in my old 97 cobra. 179 on my 08 YZF R1, It had more I just didn't have the balls. Got a speedohealer on it so it is spot on. All sport bikes read atleast 5% higher than your really going from the dealer. Hit both speeds on a way back country road with NO traffic..... On a side note to Jon and the other younger ones wanting a sport bike. You don't get a sport bike for gas mileage man. If you have never been on one are not much seat time don't get nothing bigger than a 600. You will kill yourself........ To all the cops on here. I ride the speed limit and not one of those dumbasses, Just had to see what she would do

VS200B (8/19/2008)
i was doing about 70mph one night on 3 mile bridge and had a 1300cc hayabusa (sp?) pass me like i was sitting still.... scared the shit outta me... i'd say he was doing atleast 180mph... ooh, i figured out what kinda bike it was because he got pulled over on gregory that wasnt me,but i do have a 08 'busa and a fz6. since my kids jump on the forum once in awhile, i wont say how fast i have been, they ask me all the time. i have a busa, nuff said. back in high school i had a firebird (slowest of the group), archie had a trans am, brad had a 60's yellow fastback mustang and john had a mach I mustang like the one in 007 (diamonds). we regularly raced out to pensacola beach across three mile. none of us had speedos that went over 120 (except maybe brad, but i dont think his worked), but all of us buried our speedos. this was in the mid 80's and after midnight. yes, young(er) and stupd(er)

| 135 mph in a '69 Roadrunner on the back beach road in Panama City. That was back before all the traffic lights it has now and it was two lane. 115 mph in my '67 Mustang on I-75. Not that impressive but I pretty much kept that speed from the Tennessee line to Lexington Kentucky.

993 series 911 Porsche 160 mph from Wilcox Road exit to Pensacola heading east, scouted it out going west as best I could. This was on Sunday early AM, car was stable, that is just too darn fast not to be on a track.
STILL looking for a Busa $$$ for the right one.

| Had a house in Miami, the year Andrew hit I happened to be in Pensacola visiting friends. Woke up one morning to hear on the NEWS about Andrew, and hit the road (to board up house). I was driving a Mercedes 300CD 5 banger without turbo. Once I got on the Turnpike heading South I nailed the petal to the metal and passed a Highway Patrol (he was between two cars in the right lane and they were the ONLY 3 heading South for miles) while doing in excess of 125. Susan ask me if I was going to slow down....not unless he pulls out...he never did. Kept that speed till I got to Orlando. On water 100+...too damn fast

Just got back from the Gap Saturday, rode in 8/14 (wish Killboy.com would get the darn pictures up from the day). Actually, there are far better roads to ride that aren't near as technical. I can ride the gap at a brisk pace but you damn well better be paying attention 125% of the time to what you are doing. I prefer the Hell Bender which is 28 to the left out of Deals Gap.
I've ridden damn near every road up there, I keep one bike up there and one down here. I am going to get the bike in NC prior to Labor day, pretty burnt out on NC/TN/GA I've had the Honda St up to 130 then picked up a slight wobble. I am leaving my office in about 1-1 1/2 hours to ride over to the new Bass Pro Shop.
Still looking for a Busa, right number, bike checks out, cash on the spot.

Yeah, I learned that the real challenge and joy from riding has nothing to do with top end speed: IT'S ALL ABOUT THE BANK ANGLE! Part of me really wants to go up to Deal's Gap. The hardest part about riding around here is keeping the tires round and prevent them from squaring off!
19/129 North from Blood Mountain (Neely Gap) to 76 to east to 197 is a LOT better ride than deals gap unless you are REALLY into crotch rockets and you'll get blown away by the locals. I know.

Beefisher (8/19/2008) On the German autobahn, 203MPH, not kph, riding with a friend in his Masaratti(sp?), back in 76. It was on a strech that once held the land speed record, I think in the thirties.
Dang.
I'd practically cut one off with a dull razor to do he Bahn in the car of my choice. 203...must have been one hell of a ride.

i thought i was crazy. damn! some of you guys are nuts. well here it is: back in the days when i was bulletproof a buddy and i were at the silver eagle saloon nine mile road tying one on then we here last call. we were not ready for last call. in our drunkin state we thought it would be a good idea to haul ass to the beach where we would have a chance to suck down a couple more before last call out there. my buddy was on a 750 four honda. i was on a yamaha 400 special. we put the throttles wide open from nine mile down scenic to cervantes to 17th across three mile through gulf breeze. law enforcement had radar at the end of three mile. clocked us at 137 mph when we hit gulf breeze. they also had radios and had a car in position at the top bob sikes. we pulled over and took the lecture thinking surely we going to jail. a car drove by while we were getting our lecture and blew his horn tauntying us. my buddy let go a f**k you at the top of his lungs at the car. at this time i felt for sure our ass was grass. my buddy turns to the cop and says sorry. to my suprise the cop says he understands. after the lecture the officer informed us it was shift change and he didnt have time to fool with us. he let us go. i couldnt believe it! i know some may think a 400 cc would not do 137 but it did. the special means it had a 6 speed tranny and she would keep up with my buddys 750 four (4 speed) no problem. we did manage one more drink at the beach, and behaved ourselfs going home.

Will I ever see mine read that.... Don't think so. And when I hit 179 I was not looking down to see how fast I was going. The speedohealer has a last top speed button you can hit that'll show your last top speed while safely sitting in the drive way.
