| I heard there were grouper on the channel markers in the pass in Port St Joe, Can any body validate this. My uncle went last year, and he said he was not fishing with heavy enough tackle to get them away from the posts. Just a thought. I am going to try it out for grins and will post when I return. Colt

two years ago i went there with all the younguns ..... staked a claim at the cape sanblas point to look for shells ...and i stuck a little mullet on a slip lead just to see if a bull red might be crusing the the beach ... i was about 100 yards away from the rod when i saw my then 6 yr old son in the fish battle of his life .... i ran .... sprint would be a better discription to assist ..... i thought it was a red or shark when the color wasnt copper as it got closer ... to my amazement ... my 6 yr old son had a 39 inch grouper ! .... we set up the surf rod again i walked away with my non fishing daughters shell hunting again thinking what a fluke ...no one is gonna believe this..... my son on the other hand ( inpowered by the fish that was as large as he was in a cooler next to him ) had one consumeing thought .... "THERES FISH IN THAR" ... he would not leave his post .... statoned by the rod ..... and i will be dammed if that monkey didnt hook another ! 24 inches .... ! no camera but the owner of the saltwater works cabins where we were staying took a foto and it is supposed to be on disply at the post office .

| No grouper but I did hook 2 tarpon in St. Joes bay a couple of weeks ago. They made fairly short work of my 10# gear. Got the heart pumping hard as the first one nearly jumped in the boat.
