Decided to try fishing a bit last night. The bite was very slow, but I did manage to catch a 26" slot Red. I was using Pin Fish and finger mullet that I caught in the Bayou. This is the first slot I have even caught @ 3- Mile! Any recipes for grilling?????

Filet, leave scale and skin, rub meat with olive oil, shake on the cajun seasoning, grill scales side down. Grill till meat is cooked then just slide the filet off the scales/skin. Redfish on the Half Shell.

Hey thanks guys!    Bay Pirate... we normally catch very large Bull Reds out there, 30"-43". I have some other topics with some good pics of some. That's why it was weird for me to catch this little thing, but I'm not complaing, I'm eatin good tonight!

So is it true that the bigger Reds don't taste as good as the medium sized fish do?

82whaler is right on the recipe. Only thing I do different is to get the grill really hot, place flesh side down for 3-4 minutes, then flip over, turn heat down, and close the lid. When almost ready too pull off the grill, spread with melted butter that has some garlic and lemon juice added. MAN!!!!

Tried  Navarre area this morning.    Fished the drop offs, the shallows, pilons, docks, even the deepest water around here. Managed two  junior reds  and tha't was it.      Cats were thick so  were the sting rays Wind  picked up,  some rain,... called it  a day.  Used green backs and mullet for  bait.    Lil skeet good luck and  post a   report when you get a chance.   I d like to try teh TMB tomorrow night if the bulls are back. Vspivey nice red... Im sure you had to wk. hard  for that one.

Fishermon, I got the same thing last weekend, LOTS of cats and stingrays, what is the best way to get rays of your line, those were my first and I just kind of let them lay in the boat till they were almost dead before trying to remove the hook, kept thinking of Steve Irwin ! : )

a dehooker tool would  do fine...try not to waste a ray...if the  hook is out of sight  just  cut the line.

Nice fish man. I was at 3 mile about a week and half, two weeks ago and we hung a 26.5 inch red also. I was very suprised becasue we normally get the big boys to. I didnt mind one bit, he was UHM UHM GOOD!

What bait did you catch him on? I have had my best luck on a pin fish here lately at 3 mile.

Tight lines, red fish = me happy
