| Well, for one I don't see why he needs to restrict his thoughts just because they might offend you. That's your problem not his. Then there is the fact that several of the others are making broad based statements, not about Obama, but those that voted for him. Again, calling them crack addicts and commies and so on. You weren't too offended by that enough to comment but now because it may be something that hits close to home it's all of the sudden not to be said or done. And yes, you can be trailer trash and never step foot in one, you can be a redneck and have a $1mil a year income.

You're right, in our society it is just for someone to speak whatever is on one's mind regardless of who it hurts. I never once indicated that it hit close to home, as it does not. I am fortunate to have 2 beautiful Daughters that are in College and doing quite well for themselves. My thoughts were, if they did come to me and say that they were pregnant, then they would STILL be my Daughters, they would STILL be loved just as much, they would not commit a mortal sin by killing an unborn child and they would NOT be considered Trailer Trash. And yes, you can be trailer trash and never step foot in one, you can be a redneck and have a $1mil a year income. I didn't know that until recently.My feelings remain the same concerning a retraction.

If she got an abortion she would be an articulate, progressive, modern woman. And if you called her a baby killer or murderer, the guys defending the "trailer park trash" would be having a cow. Call her what you want, but you are dead wrong to judge the parents for the kids actions. No matter what you teach your kids, at that age, with the hormones flowing, in the heat of the moment, they are not thinking about what mom and dad said about having sex. This is very true.

Don't ever offend anyone. You are making my point for me...Tell my why you didn't jump in on the threads where these broad generalizations were being made about liberals????? You just now decided we shouldn't be hateful because it's a 17 year old girl? So, let me get this straight, it's ok to be hateful to liberals but not knocked up 17 year old girls? What about 17 year old girls that do drugs? What about 17 year old girls that steal? What about 17 year old girls that get knocked up but don't have rich parents and get kicked out of their house(or trailer) and are left to walk the street with no one to support them and they have no job? Which irresponisble 17 year olds can we expect things from and which one can't we? Are the 17 year olds that walk into their schools and kill other students not suffering from some of those same heat of the moment hormones? You say it doesn't hit home, that's good. Clearly you're a good parent then. What if one of your daughter stole a car? She is still your daughter, you still love her, she is still a thief.....

| The POINT is... you can lead the kids to water... BUT you can't make them drink. You can do the best you can... doing all the "right" things... and be a GREAT parent... and your kids could STILL end up coming home pregnant or get someone pregnant... NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU PREACH ABOUT BIRTH CONTROL!! Also... calling them "TRAILER TRASH"... is UNCALLED FOR.

Your confusion here is trying to make a tie in between morality and legality. If you break the law, then society has a means to deal with you. When you make a moral mistake, society has an obligation to comfort and forgive you. I still can't understand why you would stick to your guns for a statement made against a 17 year old girl that made a bad MORAL choice, not an illegal one. Calling ALL 17 year old Girls who ever got pregnant Trailer Park Trash is insane and a slap in the face to all the God loving parents who chose to forgive and helped their child and STILL requires a retraction.

There have been hundreds of lefty commie comments thrown around and not about the candidate. Recently in almost every one of these threads some guy refers to the "people that are going to vote for Obama." Those are not generalizations about Obama, they are about he people that voted for him, and the inference is about the liberals. You guys didn't get all huffy and uptight about them. But you are now. Why? I'll go track down some of these threads and point them out. Maybe it will jog some memories. And I don't agree that you can control the kids either. I don't think it should reflect negatively on the parents. There are plenty of families that do everything right and the kid turns out sour. I'm not saying Palin is a bad mom. I am saying that Xanadu can call her daughter trailer trash if he damn well feels like it. If he wants to call me a whore because I was a sailor that's his choice, it would also just happen to be true. :-) But to get all indignant because he is stereotyping here but not do the same thing in other threads when someone you agree with does it is hypocritical.

Yes it would. Wow-just did a google search and Bidens daughter got arrested recently for obstructing a police officer where she alledgedly said "do you know who I am". Also, found a few articles about Bidens lobbyist son and his dealings with his dad. This was a 30 second search and.. Now, has anyone seen any of this blasted on the cover of newstand magazines or on CNN, etc? Maybe I missed someone mentioning it, but IT has not been the topic of conversation in the mainstream press or on this forum or anywhere else other than right wing blogs. So...NO IT WOULDN'T

I agree with you completely that smaller government is what's required for our country to stand a chance a generation or even less from now. If you think that the out of control spending is only a republican problem, then I beg you to put down the kool-aid, its laced with some seriously mind-numbing shit. It was said on here a page or so earlier, and pretty much sums up my thoughts, but I would much rather take a chance on McCain's promises to lower spending (which certainly might be the same empty BS we've heard before), than on Obama's grand social plans that are guaranteed to increase spending. Since socialism isn't going to fix anything, McCain is the only candidate that I can vote for with any hope for fixing the problem. I don't believe in McCain, nor do I think he is some magical answer to all of our problems. I think that Republicans have gotten completely away from what they claim to stand for and are no more ethical/unethical than the Democrats. I don't like the McCain of today, but if I don't vote for McCain, then Obama is one vote closer to getting into office and having a Democratic congress that will help him to legislate what's left of a work ethic out of this country.

I don't agree with him often, but I guess I admire people who speak thier mind and have a reason for thier opinion. That guy can debate and should be a lawyer. Your right, I'm not going to jump out and defend the other side and I'm not going to attack thier kids or thier parenting. I would like to think I would defend the other sides kids and thier parenting, so show me a post where someone is attacking Biden or Obama's kids or the type of parents they are. Perhaps the reason no one is going after Bidens kids is because they are all old enough to be out of the house and considered to be on their own. You could probably go after his sons but in the process you're just going to get smacked in the face with the one son that is in the national guard and about to go ot Iraq..... I suppose we could make fun of that guy, but, i wouldn't really recommend it. I wonder if the right wing praises his son for serving? I think Obama's are probably a little young to be made fun of and I don't think a 10 year old is likely to get knocked up....
