Looking to do a little shark fishing and was wondering if anyone on the forum targets them so I could get some pointers. I am looking to anchor up for the night and do some chumming. Any help would be greatly appreciated and if you want to come along for a free trip (DESTIN) and teach me first hand we can do that also

i think its simple just get some lady fish, bonito, or bluefish and get a big circle hook 8/0 or 9/0 and put it on 7-8ft of 100lb single strand and put it on the bottom then just wait.

Coming up in October we have a shark tournament, and I'm sure someone will need a crew member. Hop on one of those boats and learn A LOT about shark fishing, see how its done, meet new people, and maybe score some prize money.

Thanks for the info....I just think there is more to it than putting bait on a big hook on the bottom

It's pretty easy, day or night. Put a big bait down (doesn't matter whether its on the bottom or mid way).... we like using huge blue runners.... have a strong leader (wire or cable).... it's nice to have at least a 30 or even a 50W setup..... Sit the rod in a holder and wait for it - won't take long. =)

I like to tie a king, spanish or barracuda if you have one off the stern cleat after cutting a large fillet out of it. Put one bait near the surface with a balloon and one on the bottom with cut bait or live bait

The pass is always good, and a lot of the private wrecks have sharks around them. All divers will tell ya, Tex Edwards, and Liberty ship are famous for almost always having more than one large bull shark! Also this summer, lwhile diving, we have found that live bottom seems very attractive to sharks.
