| got me a used o/b. 1997 johnson 20 2 strk. Took it out the other day and planed off and cruised for about 10 minutes and then eased down to idle, and it idled fine. When I went to accelerate and plane off, it wouldn't. It would go a little faster than idle but not a bit more, it only reved up a bit and went like a vm....vm....vm....kinda shaking and what not. So I just idled for about 10 minutes and tried it again, and it took off like nothing ever happened and ran fine on plane for a long while. Then I went to idle down and speed up again, and it did the same the thing. What yall think?

| Is it possible that you did not open vent on fuel tank??? Sounds like it was starved for fuel or possibly overheating, There is prob. a fuel strainer under motor cover on the fuel pump. also Keep a eye on the piss stream to make sure it is pumping water and "get to know your motor" so you will notice what is normal and what is not. Congrats on getting a motor, Glad you are back on the water...........Dennis
WOW!!!!! WHAT A RIDE.

How old is the fuel? what is the ratio? Did you install new plugs when you got it?? These are some problems I have incurred. If the ratio is wrong and the plugs are old it could be fouling them at idle. I've had that happen. I have a tendency to add a little extra oil, which normally isn't an issue but there's always a chance. good luck let us know what yuou find. Brian
