Good morning all. I am a long time lurker, first time poster. I mainly fish in and around the Perdido area and the Little Lagoon so I want to thank all of the people whose posts I've stalked over the last year. Now to my question. I am headed to Shell Beach this weekend and am unable to employ a guide due to financial concerns so I'm trying it solo. Is there anywhere to stay other than Campo's? I'll have to stay in the marsh and won't be able to make a run outside so if anyone has any info you'd like to throw my way I'll be glad to buy some beers when I'm back down in a couple of weeks. I'm certainly not asking for your secret honey hole, just some pointers in the right direction if you have any.
Chris

| Don't fish in MS....(Biloxi marsh) - you won't catch squat there ! Now if the guy is recommending Bayou Biloxi - that's a good spot. Out of Blackie Campo's, head to the rock jetties / ship canal; shell beach; or the Dope Boat. Not sure about places to stay. I used to live in The Big Easy so I never did any overnight stays. LA has the best redfishing habitat in the country (as far as I'm concerned) and liberal (fair) limits / restrictions as well. Good luck, you'll probably do well.

| I hope you did well in the marsh - I was hoping to head there last week, but didn't get the chance. By the way - what is referred to as "Biloxi Marsh" IS in LA. Generally the marsh area south of Gulf Port / Pass Christian, MS and west to Hopedale / Shell Beach, LA in Lousiana is called "Biloxi Marsh". I think this tends to indicate the outer marsh south of Mississippi (but not the Chandeleur Islands), while references like to Hopedale or Shell Beach indicate the inside.

Thanks for the info guys. We had a blast. Stuck some pretty decent reds despite some goofy weather and crazy high water. Mainly hung out in Lake Ameda, Redfish Bayou and just off the MRGO. Managed to catch one decent speck on the fly rod in about a 30 knot headwind. Boated 35-40 others on Gulp and popping cork. Fantastic trip.
