how many of you have the problem of the rotating head making a scraping sound as you reel in ? is it the rotor being warped from setting the hook? i noticed a lot of 706s do it

i'd say there's ittle or no chance of the cup getting warped due to setting the hook. However, it is likely that your cup is bent. But it's probably from bouncing in the back of your truck, or in the boat, or possibly hitting the reel against the rail of the pier... I've had the same problem and you can actually see where the spool is hitting the cup. One option is buying a new rotor cup which can be frustrating to locate the part. I have bent the cups back to where they did not touch the spool anymore, but I was very patient as to not do more damage the other way. If you want to just leave it be, you need to make sure you do not set the hook with the spool in its "up" position, as that is where you have the spool/cup rubbing.
