| 5th - Went to the beach near the pier around 3:30pm until 6. We saw a couple bonita zippin around, but we were after pompano. So we cast the longer rods with some frozen shrimps and fart around throwing some jigs on our lighter rods. Shortly after, we get our first pompano ever on a frozen shrimp. 12" (I cast, she reeled... teamwork... aaaawe) ha. After that, it was nothing but bluefish. One after another. They ate shrimps and jigs (yellow pomp jig, darker yellow jig, white w/ long copper tail jig). Pretty fun. All fish safely released. 6th - Went to roughly the same spot on the beach 12:45pm till about 5pm. Saw some guy with a nice little stack of bonita. Lots of them in the water. Threw the long rod out with frozen shrimp and tossed the jig around. Got a 14" pomp. Into the cooler he goes. A couple minutes later, I get a little bird's nest on my light rod, so I'm fixing that (with my back to my other rod), and a couple guys down the beach give a whistle and a hand gesture. Looked like a thumbs up, so like an idiot I give him a thumbs up back... "YOUR ROD!"........ oops....... Another pomp in the cooler. In my defense, I was sober. I take no responsibility for my actions when not intoxicated. Final tally - 2 14" pomps and 2 12" pomps. Let one of the 12s swim off because it was a little thin. All on frozen shrimp. Also got a little whiting on a yellow pomp jig towards sundown (safely released).
Before I went out, I cut one of my sand spikes up, took the heat gun to it and made a couple skids. Screwed them into the wheels. Worked out pretty decent. Think I need to raise it up an inch or 2 though.

Thanks for the report - & pics. Let us know how those modified skids on the cooler work out - always looking for a cheap way to ease the load at the beach.

| Will do. I think the skids could be slightly wider. I'd say about 3 inches would work great. Also probably another inch or 2 of ground clearance and it'd be good to go. There's pretty much none right now as it is. Got the job done easier though. I was working on a PVC cart too. Was going to make it where all you'd have to do is spin a pipe and insert a cotter pin to change from wheels to skids. (on all 4 corners). Still in the prototype phase though as I'm trying to make it steerable without compromising load bearing up front. Don't want it to snap if on a slope and the weight shifts or whatever. Once I get it all figured out I'll post the plans/pics up.
