| I was just wondering if there where any good placed to catch any trout and reds during the winter in fwb. I have always gone over the pensacola to fish during the winter becuase i never really got into the fish in ft. Walton. Can anybody give me some hints about where to try in ft. walton? (or niceville, Destin, freeport)

I've been living in FWB for 4 weeks now...
And I've been shredding the trout on the Shalimar bridge. Like...a fish every cash shredding. I use about about 1x1 inch square of cutbait w/ a good chunk of meat attached (catch 'em near the bridge, or ask someone to use theirs). I use a 1.5oz slip sinker above a 12-18" leader with a smallish hook attached. I zing it out pretty far and only spool it slack till it sinks. Then I try as best as I can to tightline it---they bite kind of timidly sometimes and slack will ruin your hookset. I'll let 'em tap 4 or 5 or 6 times, generally they'll finally grab it. Then boom set the hook and reel in your prize.
Blues will sometimes eat them on the way in.
People there also use big pieces of cutbait or whole fish and drop them down in the channel and let them sit. Dunno what they're catching, but I saw a kid there snap 20lb line twice the other night.
