I am looking at a couple of tanks that are stamped DOT-3AL3000AS45694-M4002-01 95-S80.  A couple of questions: 1. Can these tanks have hydro and viz done? 2.  How long before these tanks are non-reuseable?  3.  What do these numbers represent? I know the Al means aluminum, the 3000 is the psi spec, but what about the other numbers.

1. Faria Gauges SUCK!

2. Please do not support any of the captains or vessels on the list below. They support the SOS plan and intend to lie to you and steal from you so that they can stay fat and happy.

You have an Aluminum 80 made by Catalina in January of 95.  The tank is fine.  Hydro, VIP, and Fill runs $34 at MBT.  PFF members get 10% off - so about $30.

The tanks in good shape should be useable for at least another 10-15 years, maybe more.  The numbers are:

3AL - DOT permit number

3000 - service pressure

AS45694 - Serial number

M4002 - Manufacturers number assigned by DOT - in this case - Catalina

01  95 - Original hydro date - Jan of 95

S80 - Standard 80
