im going down this weekend to pcola with a few buddies, plan on doing some inshore fishing. i've heard reports about fishing docks for reds and specs...is that true?? also what would be good tackle or bait to use?? any help would be greatly appreciated.

| Live croaker around the deeper docks. You can tell they're deep because they're attached to fancy homes and have big boats. Santa Rosa sound docks, redfish like Gulp jerk shads. Flounder, my only solution is Joe Patti's.

you can cast net up some finger mullet or pinfish or craokers or pigfish, and have a ball.

I'm fairly new to the area as well. There are a few common spots that offer free fishing, where you don't have to be worried about getting ran off (that is if you don't have any luck at the dock your allowed to fish). One place is Bob Sykes bridge, which parallels the bridge going over to Pensacola Beach. I haven't had alot of luck there, but you can read numerous posts on this forum by people who have yielded much different results. If you are alright with the congestion there is also the piers (Pensacola Beach which has a small charge, Fort Pickens pier which now is accessible by road,etc.) In northeastern pensacola you can fish under the hwy 90 bridges heading to pace. I have caught a few reds there, a bunch of croaker, catfish and a few sheepshead. That area is brackish, but mostly fresh water as the tide goes down and the Escambia River dumps into the area. There are some gators in the area... had a 10 footer swim up on me and my son a while back. He didn't act very aggressive, but I do here that it's that time of year.
