I met with George (lobsterman) his nephew Steve and  Jason (bombtosser) for an adventure on the high seas.  Actually the seas were nearly smooth with only a slight ground swell leftover from some storms that lingered over the gulf last night.  We loaded the livewell with herring and cigar minnows and George took us out to some of his finest spots.

Our first spot was loaded up with nice jacks near the surface while the bite on the bottom was a little slow.  Soon the crew triple hooked up.

Jason puts the first keeper AJ in the box followed by a nice surprise Blackfin tuna that was running with a school of bonita.  While I am cranking up my bottom bait I get hammered right underneath the boat by this fat boy (my personal best aj)

Steve gets hooked up with a stud and we hear him grunting and straining.  We knew he had a decent AJ but we were blow away when this monster came to the surface!  We guess him to be in the ~30lbs.

George adds a nice AJ to the box as well so we decide to move spots to search for grouper and snapper.  George takes us to his scamp hole and we quickly start catching some really nice snapper and red grouper.  By 10 am the wind completely dies off and so does the bite.  We pick up a few more red grouper and check out a few more spots.  By 3pm we decide to head in with coolers SLAM full of fish.

First Blackfin caught aboard Georges boat

Awesome day on the water with great conditions amazing fishing a good friends!  A big thanks to George to taking us to the fish!!
