Took a friend to three mile this past Friday. He is new to saltwater fishing. We put it at 10pm. The next time we checked the time was 5am. Put in on the Gulf Breeze side and fishing near the hump. I don't think it would have mattered where we were. We saw reds tailing all night. They were hitting our Gulp shrimp about 10 to 20 feet down. Some would hit some free lining cut bait on top. I also trolled in. My friend through the Gulps into lights and caught a few. He could see the reds as we came to the lights. I told him to through the bait in front and let it drift to the fish. I trolled a trough with a trailer hook and caught two reds about 35 inches. We caught 20 bull reds. All were over 31 inches except for two. The beautiful thing was that we only caught four trout. Good luck to everyone.

wmflyfisher (3/4/2008) Good report! Sorry, but where is "the hump"?He is talking about a bridge and the "hump" is the boat lane. The big tall part in the middle.

Nice post and report. I was there on Saturday. trout were everywhere but didn't hit any reds. I guess the night time is the right time Thanks for posting.

It was an unusual night. My best night has been 5 bulls max. I think we were over a hole. My friend caught 13 of the 20 (beginners luck). I was casting everywhere. After the first five, I got anxious and want to test other structures. He stayed in the same light and reeled one in after another. I was about 7 lights east of where the bridge hump begins. Right in between both bridges. They should still be there with the weather staying cold. Good luck!

| And the two reds that weren't outside the slot you got pics of? Ahh, come on! Why no pics of the bulls you caught?

| They were right at 27. I caught one by sight casting. It was the smaller of the two. The other was near shore while trolling a trout. I did not mean to offend anyone. Just wanted to let everyone know that the bulls are still schooling. Get them while they are still here. David

Sorry...simply forgot the camera at home. It is easy to miss when I have to pack a hundred other things.

Did they have a lot of holes in their mouths? I think half of Pensacola has caught and released those same 20 bull reds. They are always there waiting to be fed.

Hey man I'm just giving you a hard time. I did enjoy the report and know what it's like to forget to pack something. I probably shouldnt tell this but I've actually left in a hurry to go wadeing and forgot my bait bucket. I was only joking with you. Thanks again for the report.

| Sharkbait, don't take the blame for ME, and that dad gum bait bucket, ha! At least you didn't let the Redfsih out of the croaker sack, wadin' at Naval Live Oaks. Nobody would believe that you actually caught the 6 spotted red that I let go, would they? Can't wait for wading grass flats...

That's right it was you. As far as the Redfish, it does help to cinch up the cord on the catch bag once you put fish in it. If ya wanna keep em that is. Hell all the fun was still catching the fish. It's almost time to get after it on the flats. But, theres a pomano slaying we need to attend first. And you know where bro.
