| I seem to be stuck on one grouper per trip. That is certainly better than zero though. First butterflied ruby on the bottom yesterday was another 30" gag. Next bait down another big fish on a ruby. I was thinking finally a two grouper day but it turned out to be a black snapper bigger than the gag. Missed two more mystery fish that very well could have been groupers. After that the bite just died about ten o'clock. When that familiar SW breeze started up I headed for the ECUA culverts. They don't seem to be marking up too much anymore. It is a shame that they wasted all of that bridge rubble in federal waters when they could have easily been replenishing the old tried and true spots in close that are gettting covered up. Especially since the first six weeks of snapper season is going to be confined to state waters. After trying the culverts we slid over to the I-10 rubble and caught a bunch of red snapper. By then it was howling out of the SW but the ride back in was in the trough so it was not too bad.

| That black snapper would have made a great photo. Usually it doesn't matter to me about taking pics but I do regret not having a picture of that fish. The guys at Daybreak can back me up but thats about it. We catch a lot of big blacks during the summer but I believe that one was my personal best. A friend of mine caught a 33" black snapper a couple of years ago off of a sunken shrimp boat. I was feeling really bad for some reason when we got in or I might have gotten someone to take a picture of that fish.

| There are definately some big Mangroves out there. Last summer, we caught a nice one that was 28". One that size (30"+) is a very nice catch.
Any day that you can put at least one grouper and a stud mangrove like that in the fish box is a good day in my book. Thanks for the report.
